AIB has been the best investment I have made since graduating from high school in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. Having never been to Iowa or experienced a winter’s snow, I was excited for the opportunity to attend AIB.
I love how early classes are done Monday through Thursday and that my Fridays are free as we don’t have class. Not many colleges in the US can offer a bachelor’s degree within three years!
AIB’s location was also a factor; it conveniently lies in the heart of Des Moines. Downtown hosts events all year round, from the Arts Festival to the weekly farmer’s market to my favorite, World Food Festival; all are only minutes away from campus. AIB is also close to popular food chains, grocery stores, etc. that provide for the college crowd, especially for midnight runs!
AIB housing is a major plus; it’s exciting to have your own apartment because it gives you that independent feeling. The on-campus organization Alpha Iota Sorority and other associations offer a broad range of interests so that everyone can find their niche.
When it comes down to business matters, there are plenty of resources available. Through the completion of my community engagement requirement, I built lasting connections. Thanks to the Community Engagement Center staff, my service hours were almost a breeze. Career Services always does a superb job with resumes and assisting students like me in applying for on- and off-campus jobs. AIB’s annual Job and Volunteer Fairs are always exciting to attend. You don’t want to pass up that opportunity to network and connect with employers and non-profit partners. At AIB, the faculty and staff are always willing and able to help with your needs.
I must say that this college has served its mission, and I’m moving “faster forward from college to career!”
