A need-based federally insured fixed interest rate loan which is an agreement between the student and the Department of Education. Although there is no application deadline, students should allow ample time for loan processing. Repayment of principal and interest begin six months after the student leaves college.
A fixed interest rate loan designed to assist students who do not qualify for the maximum Direct Subsidized Loan and can also be used as an additional source of borrowing. Interest begins to accrue immediately although payment of principal and interest begin six months after the student leaves college. Although there is no application deadline, students should allow ample time for loan processing.
The Perkins Loan is administered by the College from funds previously made available by the Federal Government and AIB. This low-interest loan is awarded to students with exceptional financial need. Repayment of principal and interest begin nine months after the student leaves college. The application deadline is April 1.
A loan program for the parent(s) of dependent students. The loan is made by the Department of Education to the parent(s) and carries a fixed interest rate. This program is not based on financial need. Although there is no application deadline, parent(s) should allow ample time for loan processing.
Private Loans are available to students and families who need additional funding to bridge the cost of educations and other available sources of financial aid. As a general rule students should only use private loans if they have taken advantage of their full federal loans available to them.
