AIB Court Reporting and Captioning Degrees

AIB is a highly respected court reporting college and our graduates are sought out by firms across the country. When you start your college career at AIB, you can earn an Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in either Voice Captioning or Steno Transcription. To become a Steno Court Reporter, you will need to complete on additional year in our Bachelor's Degree program.

The curriculum for the Associate's degrees provides students with the skills needed to be successful reporters, captioners or transcriptionists. The Steno Transcription major is designed primarily as a pre-court reporting degree. Students in the Steno Transcription major will be introduced to the fields of court reporting and captioning and will learn machine shorthand theory and build speed.

Students in the Voice Captioning, Court Reporting and Transcription majors will be introduced to the fields of captioning, court reporting and transcription and will learn proper speech production techniques and build speed.

Bachelor of Science Degree in Court Reporting (Steno)

Students who earn an Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Steno Transcription can then earn a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Court Reporting (Steno).

The curriculum of AIB College of Business' Bachelor of Science in Court Reporting (Steno) provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to be realtime freelance and judicial reporters. It is our belief that students should be provided the opportunity to explore and develop general knowledge, ethical and civic responsibilities, technical skills, and research abilities to become successful “guardians of the record."

NOTE: Some students who enter the Court Reporting program may require longer enrollment to reach the National Court Reporting Association (NCRA) speed requirements.
