Safety Management Services is the responsibility of every member of this community, and we encourage the involvement of all campus members in keeping AIB a safe and secure environment for education. It is the responsibility of each member of the College to report the occurrence of a known crime to the Safety Management Services Office. To strike the appropriate balance between the needs of a crime victim and the need for crime reporting, the Jeanne Clery Act emphasizes the responsibility of those campus administrators who have significant responsibility for student and campus activities to report known crimes.

The administrative responsibility for Safety Management Services at AIB College of Business rests with the Chief Facilities Officer.

AIB SAFETY SERVICES:
  • Safety protection and awareness: the patrolling of campus areas with primary concern for personal safety of all students, staff, faculty, and visitors.
  • On-campus escorts upon request.
  • Liaison services to all local law enforcement agencies.
  • Monitoring safety conditions and filing safety-related work requests and reports.
  • Enforcement of campus vehicle registration and parking regulations.
  • Campus facilities access control.
  • Fire, health, safety and risk management responsibilities.
SAFETY TIPS:
  1. Keep your room locked at all times.
  2. Report lost keys to campus housing immediately.
  3. Do not prop open exterior residence hall doors.
  4. When walking across campus at night, walk with a friend or in a group.
  5. Report suspicious persons or activities to the Safety Management Services Office or Fenton Hall Desk.
  6. Report theft of other crimes to the Safety Management Services Office or Fenton Hall Desk.
  7. Lock your vehicle. Do not leave valuables unattended.
  8. Maintain accurate records of your belongings and their serial numbers.
  9. Do not let strangers into your residence hall or apartment.
  10. Do not leave guests in your apartment while you are not there.
The Safety Office encourages all students to be conscious of their own safety and security and to report unsafe conditions.

SAFETY AND CRIME PREVENTION PROGRAMS:
The Safety Management Services Office presents safety awareness and crime prevention programs each year during orientation and special events. Safety awareness and crime prevention programming is also a part of new employee orientation, in cooperation with the Human Resources Office.

AUTHORITY AND JURISDICTION:
The AIB Safety staff is composed solely of "non-sworn" officers, with no arrest authority outside the guidelines provided for private citizens in making a citizen's detainment.
