BILL REICHARDT CLOTHES CLOSET

WHAT IS THE CLOTHES CLOSET?Clothes_Closet

The Bill Reichardt Clothes Closet is an apartment with three full rooms of gently worn men’s and women’s professional and business casual clothing and accessories (many name brand items). It also has a fitting room with a five way dressing mirror. The Clothes Closet is open four days a week. Student workers, who are members of ASOC (Adult Students on Campus), work in the Clothes Closet. Students may also contact Sheila Keene, Clothes Closet Coordinator, at 246-5328 or e-mail sheilak@aib.edu for a special appointment.

FREE CLOTHING

The purpose of the Bill Reichardt Clothes Closet is to provide an opportunity for any AIB student to select professional or business casual clothing and accessories FREE of charge.

The Clothes Closet supports the AIB philosophy by stressing a professional appearance when students interview and work in the business community. On the walls of the Clothes Closet are tips for students preparing for an interview. Handouts of these tips are given to students visiting the Clothes Closet.

HOW IS IT USED?

Students use the Clothes Closet to select professional clothing for a job interview or for an entire professional wardrobe (no limit). Prior to the AIB Career Fest and job interviews on campus, the Clothes Closet is extremely busy with students selecting professional business attire to assure a professional appearance for a possible job.

HISTORYClothes_Closet

The AIB Clothes Closet was first established by a student organization, ASOC (Adult Student on Campus). ASOC saw a need for students, who usually are on a limited budget, to be able to have access to FREE professional clothing. The Clothes Closet opened in the spring of 2000, literally in a closet on campus. The Clothes Closet was named the Bill Reichardt Clothes Closet in November of 2006 in honor and memory of Mr. Reichardt. For many years, Mr. Reichardt was a regular guest speaker on the AIB campus. He owned and operated Reichardt’s Clothing and was a mentor and role model for young professionals entering the business world. In 2006, the Bill Reichardt Clothes Closet was relocated to an apartment on campus to accommodate its growth.
