INSTITUTIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS
|
|
AIB College of Business is pleased to offer scholarships and grants for Associate and Bachelor degree-seeking students
during the 08/09 academic year. AIB allocates scholarship and grant funds to students in an amount up to $15,840 per student.
Eligible students will receive the one scholarship that maximizes their award potential. In addition, eligible students may
also qualify for the AIB Monroe Colston Diversity Leadership Grant, Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship, EO Fenton Alumni & Housing
Grant, AIB Out-of-State Grant, AIB Service Members Scholarship, Girls Basketball Scholarship, Golf Scholarship, Cheerleading
Scholarship, Huisinga Memorial Scholarship, Dollars for Scholars, HS Senior Grant, Iowa Court Reporters Association Scholarship,
and Tuition Exchange Program. To be awarded any of the following scholarships or grants, students will need to be accepted and
will also need to complete the AIB Institutional Financial Aid Application including any additional required forms or

FOUNDER'S SCHOLARSHIP (Associate and Bachelor)
|
Full tuition scholarship - $3,960 per term
|
|
|
|
QUALIFICATIONS:
|
|
3.75 cumulative GPA and top 10% of HS class OR 3.75 cumulative GPA and 28 or higher ACT
|
|
|
|
The merit based Founders Scholarship is a full tuition scholarship named after Everett O. Fenton, founder of
AIB College of Business in 1921. AIB will offer up to five new Founder’s Scholarships per year. This scholarship
is available to incoming first-year students that meet the scholarship requirements and attend the fall term immediately
after high school. Qualified students must apply for admission, apply for the Founders Scholarship, and be accepted no
later than April 1. Students must also complete their FAFSA and AIB Institutional Aid Application by April 1. Students will
attend the AIB Founder’s Scholarship Day in April as well. The Founders Scholarship is for tuition only and is awarded in
conjunction with any federal and state assistance. Participants must complete an essay and interview as part of the scholarship
competition. Scholarship winners will be notified within 2 weeks after the competition. The Founders Scholarship is based on
academics, merit, leadership and service. The Founders Scholarship Committee will determine the scholarship recipients. The
Founders Scholarship will remain in effect for the first 126 attempted quarter credit hours. If continuing on to the Bachelor’s
Degree immediately after completion of the AIB Associate’s Degree, the Founders Scholarship will remain until graduation. The
scholarship is renewable if academic eligibility is met and will be reviewed at the end of each term. Recipients must maintain
full-time status, proper social standing, and a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA). If the required GPA is not
retained, the student will be allowed a one term grace period. The quarterly GPA at the end of the grace period must be at or
above 3.5 for the scholarship to continue. The student will remain in the grace period until their cumulative GPA is at or above
3.5. If the required quarterly GPA is not attained after the grace period or if the student drops to part-time status, the
scholarship will revert to the Honors Scholarship and will remain at the lower level for the duration of the student’s
eligibility.

Students must be high school graduates and first-time college attendees to qualify for the merit based Honors Scholarship.
The Honors Scholarship is for tuition only and is awarded in conjunction with any federal and state assistance. The Honors
Scholarship will remain in effect for the first 126 attempted quarter credit hours. If continuing on to the Bachelor’s Degree
immediately after completion of the AIB Associate’s Degree, the Honors Scholarship will remain until graduation. The scholarship
is renewable upon maintaining proper social standing as well as a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA that will be reviewed at the end of
each term. If the required GPA is not retained, the student will be allowed a one term grace period. The quarterly GPA at the end
of the grace period must be at or above 3.0 for the scholarship to continue. The student will remain in the grace period until
their cumulative GPA is at or above 3.0 If the required quarterly GPA is not attained after the grace period, the scholarship
will revert to the Alumni and Friends Scholarship and will remain at the lower level for the duration of the student’s eligibility. |

Students must be high school graduates and first-time college attendees to qualify for the merit based Alumni & Friends
Scholarship. The Alumni and Friends Scholarship is for tuition only and is awarded in conjunction with any federal and
state assistance. The Alumni & Friends Scholarship will remain in effect for the first 126 attempted quarter credit hours.
If continuing on to the Bachelor’s Degree immediately after completion of the AIB Associate’s Degree, the Alumni & Friends
Scholarship will remain until graduation. The scholarship is renewable upon maintaining proper social standing as well as a
minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA that will be reviewed at the end of each term. If the required GPA is not retained, the student
will be allowed a one term grace period. The quarterly GPA at the end of the grace period must be at or above 2.5 for the
scholarship to continue. The student will remain in the grace period until their cumulative GPA is at or above 2.5. If the
required quarterly GPA is not attained after the grace period, the scholarship will revert to the Eagles Grant and will remain
at the lower level for the duration of the student’s eligibility. |

|
Students must be high school graduates and first-time college attendees to qualify for the merit based Eagles Grant. The Eagles
Grant is for tuition only and is awarded in conjunction with any federal and state assistance. The Eagles Grant will remain in
effect for the first 126 attempted quarter credit hours. If continuing on to the Bachelor’s Degree immediately after completion
of the AIB Associate’s Degree, the Eagles Grant will remain until graduation. The grant is renewable upon maintaining proper
social standing as well as a minimum 2.00 cumulative GPA that will be reviewed at the end of each term. If the required GPA is
not retained, the student will be allowed a one term grace period. The quarterly GPA at the end of the grace period must be at or
above 2.0 for the scholarship to continue. The student will remain in the grace period until their cumulative GPA is at or above
2.0. If the required quarterly GPA is not attained after the grace period, the student will lose eligibility for the Eagles Grant
for the duration of the student’s time in college. |

NON-TRADITIONAL GRANT (Associate and Bachelor) |

QUALIFICATIONS:

Students who are 24 years or older and have not previously attended another college or university
OR
Students who have earned a GED equivalency and have not attended another college or university.
|

|
|
Students will need to complete the admissions application process and may be requested to submit a letter of
recommendation or attend an on-campus interview. The Non-Traditional Grant is for tuition only and is awarded in
conjunction with any federal and state assistance. The need based Non-Traditional Grant will remain in effect for
the first 126 attempted quarter credit hours. If continuing on to the Bachelor’s Degree immediately after completion
of the AIB Associate’s Degree, the Non-Traditional Grant will remain until graduation. The grant is renewable upon
maintaining proper social standing as well as a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA that will be reviewed at the end of each term.
The student will be allowed a one term grace period. The quarterly GPA at the end of the grace period must be at or above 2.0
for the scholarship to continue. The student will remain in the grace period until their cumulative GPA is at or above 2.0 If
the required quarterly GPA is not attained after the grace period, the grant will be removed for the duration of the student’s
time in college. |

TRANSFER STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP (Associate and Bachelor) |
|
This merit based scholarship is available to students who are transferring from another accredited college who were enrolled at
least full-time for one semester and completed 12 or more transferable credits. Scholarship eligibility will be determined based
on the cumulative GPA from the previous college. The Transfer Student Scholarship is for tuition only and is awarded in
conjunction with any federal and state assistance. The scholarship will remain in effect for the first 126 attempted quarter
credit hours. If continuing on to the Bachelor’s Degree immediately after completion of the AIB Associate’s Degree, the Transfer
Student Scholarship will remain until graduation.
This merit based scholarship is also available to AIB alumni who graduated with an AIB Associate Degree and did not immediately pursue the AIB Bachelor Degree Program. Scholarship eligibility will be determined based on the student’s previous AIB cumulative GPA. The Transfer Scholarship will remain in effect until graduation.

This scholarship supersedes the Founders, Honors, Alumni & Friends Scholarships or Eagles Grant. The scholarship is reviewed
every term and is renewable upon maintaining the required minimum cumulative GPA and proper social standing. The student will
be allowed a one term grace period. The quarterly GPA at the end of the grace period must be at or above the required minimum GPA
for the scholarship to continue. The student will remain in the grace period until their cumulative GPA is at or above the minimum.
If the quarterly GPA is not attained after the grace period, the scholarship will revert to the next lower scholarship and will remain
at the lower level for the duration of the student’s education. If the GPA for the Transfer III Award is not maintained, the student
will lose eligibility for the scholarship for the duration of their time in college.

|
MONROE COLSTON DIVERSITY LEADERSHIP GRANT (Associate and Bachelor) |
$500 per term for full-time students |

|
|
AIB will offer up to 15 Monroe Colston Diversity Leadership Grants each academic year to incoming full time new and
transfer students who are from a diverse background. Students may receive this grant in addition to one of the aforementioned
merit scholarships/grants. The grant is available to minority students and students with disabilities who are US citizens. The
grants are competitive, require an application, and the initial award is given in the fall term. To be considered for the grant

The competitive factors considered include proof of community service demonstrated by volunteer work that
positively affected community diversity, examples of leadership involvement, leadership potential, and exceptional
extra-curricular involvement in high school related to a diverse situation. The candidate’s disability as well as their
racial, demographic, and ethnical background will be considered. The AIB Monroe Colston Diversity Leadership Committee
will review all applicants and determine the grant recipients. The Monroe Colston Diversity Leadership Grant is for tuition
only and is awarded in conjunction with any federal and state assistance. The grant will remain in effect for the first 126
attempted quarter credit hours. If continuing on to the Bachelor’s Degree immediately after completion of the AIB Associate’s
Degree, the Monroe Colston Diversity Leadership Grant will remain until graduation. The grant is renewable upon maintaining
proper social standing, as well as a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA that will be reviewed at the end of the term. The student will
be allowed a one term grace period. The quarterly GPA at the end of the grace period must be at or above 2.0 for the scholarship

- $250 per term with 3.5 cumulative GPA for 9 quarter credits (2 classes)

The Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Scholarship is open to previously active members of PTK who have completed an associate
degree from an accredited college/university and attend AIB immediately after completion of said degree. Eligible
students are invited to complete the Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship application. Students may receive this scholarship
in addition to one of the aforementioned merit scholarships/grants not to exceed the tuition cost per term and is
awarded in conjunction with federal and state assistance. In order to receive the PTK Scholarship, students must
present a letter from their prior PTK advisor to verify membership. The scholarship is renewable upon maintaining proper
social standing as well as a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA that will be reviewed every term. If the GPA is not retained, the
student will be allowed a one term grace period. The quarterly GPA at the end of the grace period must be at or above 3.0
for the scholarship to continue. The student will remain in the grace period until their cumulative GPA is at or above 3.0.

E.O. FENTON ALUMNI AND FAMILY HOUSING GRANT (Associate and Bachelor) |
$250 per term |

|
This grant is available for AIB campus housing and is awarded to a student who has a family member considered
an AIB alumnus or when two or more members of the same family attend AIB concurrently. A family member is
defined as a sibling, child, parent, spouse, or grandparent. The award is made at the time of acceptance and requires
completion of an EO Fenton Alumni and Family Housing Grant application. Students may receive this grant in addition to
one of the aforementioned merit scholarships/grants. Students must be enrolled full time and will remain in effect for
the first 126 attempted quarter credit hours. If continuing on to the Bachelor’s Degree immediately after completion of
the AIB Associate’s Degree, the grant will remain until graduation. The grant is renewable upon maintaining proper social
standing as well as a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA that will be reviewed at the end of each term. If the required GPA is not
retained, the student will be allowed a one term grace period. The quarterly GPA at the end of the grace period must be at

This grant is awarded to out-of-state residents and students must be in the upper 50% of their high school
graduating class, be enrolled in a degree program, and must reside in AIB campus housing. Students must apply
for admission and financial aid by April 1, and must meet the financial need requirements of the Iowa Tuition
Grant Program. Students may receive this grant in addition to one of the aforementioned merit scholarships/grants.
The AIB Out-of-State Tuition Grant is for tuition only and is awarded in conjunction with any federal and state
assistance. The grant is renewable upon maintaining proper social standing as well as a minimum 2.50 cumulative
GPA that will be reviewed at the end of each term. If the required GPA is not retained, the student will be allowed

This grant is awarded to out-of-state residents and students must be in the upper 50% of their high school
graduating class, be enrolled in a degree program, and must reside in AIB campus housing. Students must apply
for admission and financial aid by April 1, and must meet the financial need requirements of the Iowa Tuition
Grant Program. Students may receive this grant in addition to one of the aforementioned merit scholarships/grants.

This scholarship is available for women participating in the AIB Women’s Basketball Program. The amount of
the scholarship will be tailored for each individual participant. Students may receive this scholarship in
addition to one of the aforementioned merit scholarships/grants. Participants are required to complete the
financial aid process each year. The Women’s Basketball Scholarship is for tuition only and is awarded in
conjunction with any federal and state assistance. Students must be enrolled full time and will remain in effect
for the first 126 attempted quarter credit hours with the coach’s approval. If continuing on to the Bachelor’s
Degree immediately after completion of the AIB Associate’s Degree, the scholarship will remain until graduation
with the coach’s approval. The scholarship is renewable upon maintaining proper social standing as well as a minimum
2.0 cumulative GPA that will be reviewed at the end of each term. If the required GPA is not retained, the student
will be allowed a one term grace period. The quarterly GPA at the end of the grace period must be at or above 2.0 for
the scholarship to continue. The student will remain in the grace period until their cumulative GPA is at or above 2.0.

MEN'S & WOMEN'S GOLF SCHOLARSHIP |
|
|
|
This scholarship is available for women participating in the AIB Golf Program. The amount of the scholarship
will be tailored for each individual participant. Students may receive this scholarship in addition to one of
the aforementioned merit scholarships/grants. Participants are required to complete the financial aid process
each year. The Golf Scholarship is for tuition only and is awarded in conjunction with any federal and state
assistance. Students must be enrolled full time and will remain in effect for the first 126 attempted quarter
credit hours with the coach’s approval. If continuing on to the Bachelor’s Degree immediately after completion
of the AIB Associate’s Degree, the scholarship will remain until graduation with the coach’s approval. The
scholarship is renewable upon maintaining proper social standing as well as a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA that
will be reviewed at the end of each term. If the required GPA is not retained, the student will be allowed a one
term grace period. The quarterly GPA at the end of the grace period must be at or above 2.0 for the scholarship

CHEERLEADING SCHOLARSHIP |

|
|
This scholarship is available for women participating in the AIB Cheerleading Program. The amount of the
scholarship will be tailored for each individual participant. Students may receive this scholarship in
addition to one of the aforementioned merit scholarships/grants. Participants are required to complete the
financial aid process each year. The Cheerleading Scholarship is for tuition only and is awarded in conjunction
with any federal and state assistance. Students must be enrolled full time and will remain in effect for the first
126 attempted quarter credit hours with the cheerleading sponsor’s approval. The scholarship is renewable upon
maintaining proper social standing as well as a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA that will be reviewed at the end of
each term. If the required GPA is not retained, the student will be allowed a one term grace period. The quarterly
GPA at the end of the grace period must be at or above 2.0 for the scholarship to continue. The student will remain

CHAD MICHAEL HUISINGA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (Associate and Bachelor) |

|
|
Chad Michael Huisinga, a 1993 graduate of Carlisle High School, passed away in December of 1995.
His parents, AIB Graduates Alan and Melinda “Shepp” Huisinga, and his grandparents established this
award for full-time degree seeking AIB students. Students may receive this grant in addition to one of
the aforementioned merit scholarships/grants. Eligible students are invited to complete the Huisinga
Scholarship application. The Huisinga Scholarship is for tuition only and is awarded in conjunction with
any federal and state assistance. The scholarship is renewable upon maintaining proper social standing as well
as a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA that will be reviewed at the end of each term. If the required GPA is not retained,
the student will be allowed a one term grace period. The quarterly GPA at the end of the grace period must be at
or above 2.5 for the scholarship to continue. The student will remain in the grace period until their cumulative
GPA is at or above 2.5. If the required quarterly GPA is not attained after the grace period, the student will
lose eligibility for the scholarship for the duration of the student’s time in college. |

DOLLARS FOR SCHOLARS (Associate Only) |

|
AIB is a matching partner in the Dollars for Scholars high school scholarship program. The College will award
a one-time match of up to $300 for any Dollars for Scholars Scholarship. Students may receive this grant in addition
to one of the aforementioned merit scholarships/grants. |

|
|
TUITION EXCHANGE PROGRAM (Associate and Bachelor) |
Up to $3,960 tuition per term |

|
AIB College of Business is a member of the Tuition Exchange Program. Hundreds of private colleges throughout
the US belong to this program. Students with a parent employed by a private college may be eligible for the
Tuition Exchange Benefit Program which includes a full tuition scholarship and housing benefit. Participants are
required to complete the financial aid application process in a timely manner. The Tuition Exchange benefit is for
tuition and housing only and is awarded in conjunction with all federal, state, and AIB institutional grant assistance.
The benefit is renewable upon maintaining proper social standing as well as a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA that will be
reviewed at the end of each term. If the required GPA is not retained, the student will be allowed a one term grace period.
The quarterly GPA at the end of the grace period must be at or above 2.0 for the scholarship to continue. The student will
remain in the grace period until their cumulative GPA is at or above 2.0. If the required quarterly GPA is not attained
after the grace period, the student will lose eligibility for the benefit until the required GPA is again met. It is the

IOWA COURT REPORTERS ASSOCIATION MARY L. BROWN SCHOLARSHIP (Associate Only) |
$750 one-time scholarship |
|
|
This scholarship is funded by the Iowa Court Reporters Association (ICRA) and is available to one Iowa high school
graduate enrolled in the Transcription Major at AIB. The scholarship recipient will be determined by ICRA based on
grades and community/school activities. The applicant must submit a 250 word essay and two letters of recommendation.
The application deadline for this scholarship is April 1.

Once enrolled at AIB, students have the opportunity to apply for a variety of scholarships and grants that are
only available to current students. Awards vary in application, amount, and time of year awarded. For more information,

|
AIB SPIRIT AWARD (Current Students) |
|
|
|
The AIB Spirit Award was established in 1992. AIB Alumna, Michele Matt '82, a nationally known motivational
speaker and President of Inspiring Solutions, funds this award. Students with a 2.5 GPA who display enthusiasm,
school spirit, and a positive AIB attitude may nominate themselves or be nominated by a faculty or staff member
for the award. The AIB Spirit Award of $400 is given annually. |

|
ARNOLD AND DOROTHY JOHNSON SCHOLARSHIP (Current Students) |

The Arnold and Dorothy Johnson Scholarship was established in 1997 in memory of Arnold Johnson ’37 and his wife, Dorothy,
for financial contributions made to AIB. The scholarship is available during the summer term for up to 20 full-time students.
The student must have successfully completed 24 credit hours at AIB with a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average.
Eligible students are invited to apply for the scholarship at the beginning of the spring term. Students placed on social
or academic probation will forfeit any AIB scholarship or grant. Students will be notified of the availability of the
applications. |

CAMPUS ORGANIZATION SCHOLARSHIPS (Current Students) |

|
A number of the on-campus student organizations offer scholarships each year to current members of the organization.
For more information on these scholarships, students should visit with their organization sponsor or president.
Students placed on Social Probation will forfeit any AIB scholarship or grant. |

COLIN COGLEY AWARD (Current Students) |
|
|
|
This $100 award is given to a Continuing Education student who has faced challenging circumstances in his or
her life and has worked and/or continues to work to overcome them. Students are encouraged to apply for this
award or may be nominated by a faculty or staff member. The student must have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade
point average. |

JEANETTE HAUCK FORSYTH ’42 SCHOLARSHIP (Current Students) |
|
|
|
This scholarship was established June 9, 2001, in honor of Jeanette Hauck Forsyth ‘42. The scholarship is awarded each
summer and varies in amount, ranging from $1,000 to $2,000 annually. The scholarship is available during the summer term
for up to 2 full-time students. The student must have successfully completed 24 credit hours at AIB with a minimum 2.5
cumulative grade point average. Eligible students are invited to apply for the scholarship at the beginning of the spring
term. Students placed on social or academic probation will forfeit any AIB scholarship or grant. Students will be notified
of the availability of the applications. |

RECOGNITION AWARDS (Current Students) |

Recognition Awards are given to current students. The Scholarship Committee selects candidates on the basis of
academic success, attendance, business attitude, and College and community activities. Awards are in honor of past or
present faculty, staff, officers, trustees, and friends of the College. Students are encouraged to apply for these awards
and are notified annually concerning the application deadlines. Recognition Awards are in the amount of $500 or more. |
