Why Live On Campus

Forget the typical small, cramped dorm rooms at AIB we understand the importance of giving each student enough space to live comfortably. Living on campus is a great way to get connected and stay active in the AIB community. There is never a dull moment when you live in the Residence Halls.

Listed below are the top 5 reasons why you will enjoy living on campus:

5.   Involvement and Friends - There are many activities on campus such as intramurals, hall parties and meetings, basketball games, dances, etc. Students living on campus easily connect and attend events together.

4.   Apartment-Style Housing - When you think of typical college housing, you usually think of small, cramped dorm rooms. Our one-bedroom apartments are approximately 640 sq. ft. and two-bedroom apartments range from 710 sq. ft. to 940 sq. ft. The apartments are partially furnished with a sofa, armchair, stove, refrigerator, table with 4 chairs, bed, and dresser. If you have your own furnishings, please let us know so we can best accommodate you.

3.   Safety and Security - Residence Life staff and/or security are available 24 hours a day. Merk, Dalton, and Fleur residence halls are equipped with a security system -only residents have keys that unlock the entrances. Fenton Hall entrances are locked at 12:00 a.m. every night; only residents and registered guests with proper identification will be admitted in by safety officers or staff members. Security cameras are also placed throughout the campus to monitor the AIB parking lots and grounds.

2.   Price and Convenience - Living on campus means you don’t have to spend the extra money for gas to drive to class; instead, you can walk anywhere on campus in less than 5 minutes. The cost of AIB apartments include cable, internet, utilities, local telephone service, activities center membership, and furniture. It would be hard to find an apartment complex that can match our price!

1.   Higher Academic Success - Students living on campus are more likely to use the computer labs, library, and tutoring resources available at AIB.

Getting Involved
Getting involved at AIB is easy. Students become part of a group as soon as they move on campus. Floors and buildings around campus hold special events throughout the year and participate as a team in activities such as “Battle of the Halls.”

Other activities, events, and organizations are available around campus for students looking to get involved outside of housing.

Battle of the Halls
Every month, two different events are held where each floor in Fenton and Merk/Dalton dress up in hall colors and compete against each other for the coveted trophy. Events range from Dodgeball, Catch Phrase, Ultimate Frisbee, Towel Hockey, etc.

Floor Meetings
Floor meetings for all residents are held throughout the term to discuss various issues on the floor or in residence life. This is also a time to plan community building events such as pizza parties, movies, outings, and much more.

Hall Councils
The two hall councils (Fenton and Merk/Dalton) sponsor various social, educational, and recreational activities as well as discuss matters pertaining to the operation of the halls. The councils are made up of students residing in those buildings that are interested in promoting and improving residence life.
