1921 American Institute of Business was founded by Everett O. Fenton and Ray Hansen. |

1925 AIB was located at the Victoria Hotel on Sixth Avenue. Elsie M. Fenton founded Alpha Iota International Honorary Business Sorority. Alpha Iota has active chapters throughout the United States and has initiated more than 65,000 members. |

1926 Phi Theta Pi Honorary Commerce Fraternity was founded. |

1935 AIB moved to Tenth Street and Grand Avenue, the heart of the downtown business district. It educated students at that location for 37 years. |

1941 AIB was reorganized as a nonprofit institution. | | |
1957 Keith Fenton became AIB’s second president. |

1965 Fenton Hall East opened for 152 female students. The building was dedicated to Everett O. Fenton. Students rode an AIB bus to classes downtown. |

1968 Everett O. Fenton, co-founder and former president of AIB, passed away. |
| |
1972 AIB moved to its present location at Fleur Drive and Bell Avenue. Classes and offices were now located in the Administration Building. |

1977 Fenton Hall West was completed, increasing the dormitory capacity to more than 400 students. The west wing was dedicated to Elsie M. Fenton. |

1981 A classroom building was built and dedicated to Ralph Wells, an AIB accounting instructor for 36 years. It was named Wells Hall. |
| |
1983 An apartment complex on the southwest corner of the campus was acquired. Merk Hall was dedicated in recognition of Merk Realty Company for its financial contributions to AIB. Dalton Hall was dedicated in honor of Darrell and Frances “Dad and Mom” Dalton for their 19 years of service as houseparents to AIB students. |

1985 The two buildings in the center of campus were purchased to house the academic center and library and the court reporting department and student center. |

1986 AIB became accredited with the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Institutions of Higher Education. |

1989 The Fleur Complex apartments were purchased, enlarging the campus to 16 buildings. The 2702 building was named Davidson Hall in honor of Clarence Davidson, an AIB instructor for 22 years; the 2710 building was assigned to the Phi Theta Pi Fraternity; and the 2712 building was given to the Alpha Iota Sorority. |

1993 Elsie Fenton, founder of the Alpha Iota Sorority and wife of AIB co-founder Everett O. Fenton, passed away. |

1994 Alpha Chapter of Phi Theta Pi was reorganized into Phi Theta Alpha Business Fraternity. The 2716 building in the Fleur Complex was named Opie Hall in honor of Richard Opie, an AIB officer for 21 years. |

1995 Graceland College began offering bachelor degree programs on the AIB campus. |

1997 The 2700 building in the Fleur Complex was renamed Arnold and Dorothy Johnson Alumni Hall to honor the late Johnsons for their financial support of AIB. The building had previously been named Alumni Hall. |

1998 Keith Fenton retired as president of AIB after 42 years of service. The Administration Building was renamed the Keith Fenton Administration Building. |

1999 Nancy Williams was elected president of AIB after 16 years with the College. The new Activities Center opened for use. |
| |
2000 The College changed its name from American Institute of Business to AIB College of Business to better reflect its mission and purpose. |

2001 Online classes became an option for students. The 2714 building in the Fleur Complex was named Power Hall in honor of J. Edward Power, an AIB board member for 15 years. |

2002 The 10th and Grand building that was once home to AIB was torn down by the city of Des Moines. |
| |
2003 AIB began offering courses in Panora, Iowa. |
| |
2004 AIB opened additional off-campus sites in Urbandale and East Des Moines. The Phi Theta Alpha Business Fraternity House became Honors Hall. AIB expanded its online program to include six associate of business degrees. |

2005 Arnold and Dorothy Johnson Alumni Hall was renamed the Arnold and Dorothy Johnson Admissions Center. Service Learning was implemented in to the curriculum during the fall quarter. The cafeteria was remodeled to have a 1950’s theme and was renamed the City View Diner. Career Services introduced AIB JOBS on the college’s website. The Alpha Iota Sorority house was renamed Eagles Hall. |

2006 The bookstore received a new appearance and obtained the name of Eagle’s Landing. The exterior renovation of the Arnold and Dorothy Johnson Admissions Center was completed. The AIB Bachelor Degree Completion Program became an option for students in the fall with two majors – accounting and business administration. The Clothes Closet was renamed the Bill Reichardt Clothes Closet. AIB and Graceland University ended an 11-year partnership that provided baccalaureate completion opportunities on the AIB campus to AIB students who had completed two-year business degrees. |

2007 After over a 50-year hiatus, AIB entered the women’s basketball arena again by joining the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference. AIB expanded its online program to include its original two bachelor majors and added the realtime reporting-captioning and realtime reporting-judicial majors to its bachelor offerings. The renovation of Wells Hall was completed. The annual commencement ceremony was moved from September to June. |
