The always notorious, St. Patty’s Day, is upon us. I have never been one to celebrate holidays that do not pertain to me; for example Cinco de Mayo and St. Patty’s, because I am not from Mexico nor from Ireland. However, this year a good friend of mine is in town for Spring Break, and she is super excited to celebrate. We have decided to meet up for dinner downtown, where our options are endless. I am looking forward in experiencing the whole Green Theme for today, but totally unsure of what to ...

So, I don’t want this to be overkill on the whole moving situation, but moving has really played a big part in my life. I knew it would be different living off campus, but never did I think I would be writing a blog entry about my love of cooking. Nor did I ever think I would be saying this – but I have a new favorite hobby and it is…drum roll, please! Cleaning!

Last night I decided I was going to cook supper, for the first time in my new place, for my fiancée. I ate at Joe's Crab Shack last weekend and loved the crab dip that I thought I was going to try and make it for myself. As I was making it, I was--worried!
But when I took it out of the oven, I was shocked! It tasted great!! :)

Thursday, February 26th at 9:00 am marked the end to my Associate's degree at AIB College of Business. It doesn't quite seem to be over yet, because I am continuing on for my Bachelor's, yet a big part of my college career is over--I have moved off campus.
I loved living on campus and have since the fall of 2006, but I moved in with my fiancée last weekend. We now live in Ankeny, and I have a 20 minute commute each day to class and work.

The last term of my associate degree has been – amazing. My favorite class by far would have to be entrepreneurship.
In this class, we developed a business plan and followed through with it. We had the mission to have a portion of the proceeds go to a charity. Finding a worthy charity was the easy p ...

I have written in the past about lists and how vital they are to my life. The feeling I get from crossing items off a list is, in one word -- delightful!
As I was sitting in my 8:35 Career Foundations class, it hit me when one of our guests for the day commented on how proud of us they were and how we are all closing one huge chapter in our lives. Sometimes I feel like I am just getting started and have so many more things left I want to do, but it wasn't until today that I realized that this is the last normal week of my associate's degree…after next week, my associates will be behind me and then it is on to the next adventure!!
It also helped in the realization, because when this euphony came over me, I was having my head measure f ...

It's that time of year again! The time of year when it take 10 minutes to bundle up before even thinking about stepping outside. The time of year when the malls are crowded and lines seem to go on forever. The time of year that makes it impossible to avoid Holiday music; therefore, having the effect that you can't seem to not sing along.
It seems to me that even though the Holidays tend to amount in greater stress AND with the economic situations we are in puts a damper on the giving part of the Holidays...it seems to me, that overall, people are still always in a better mood during this time of year. We tend to worry about what to make and how to get that meat cooked just right or focus all of our time on making sure the potatoes are as lumpy as the gravy is. I know that people are cutting back with gift giving and decorations this year, but I am thrilled to see that people are still in the Holiday spirit. ...

I am a list person. I would list myself as one of those people who live their lives by lists. Wow, I just listed myself as a lister!
I like organization and order in all of my activities. Whether it is in class, organizations, internships, or in my personal life; I must (at all times) be organized and on top of everything.
I have been this way my whole life and have came to an understanding with myself that I may be the odd person who makes a list reminding me to make a grocery list. It may not be how a vast majority of the population chooses to do things, but it works for me. Most people wish to just do things as they come up or work on things when they have time. Not me. I create a monthly list, a weekly list, a daily list, and in most cases, I break each day into an hourly list. Yes, I know what you are thinking...a little overkill, huh?& ...

3 1/2 Day Weekend |

Here at AIB we have a four day school week. All classes are done no later than 1:30 in the afternoon, which allows students to work part-time in the afternoons. Not having classes on Fridays also allows students to put in a full day's work on Friday or just in the afternoon, so they can get some homework done in the mornings. Friday's are also open to meet with instructors and meet with any administrator.
I had a few things to do this Friday, but was done around 2:30. Having the flexibility on Friday really opens things up for the rest of the weekend. LIke today for example; I am uploading wedding pictures from my phone to my online album and watching the Hawkeyes (lose), then going to do some shopping later this afternoon. Tomorrow, is pledge day for the new members who want to join the Alpha Iota Sorority. It'll be just about all day, but is so much fun that time will fly!
I know that havin ...
